My Diet Plan Going Well:
My idea of alternating between days of normal eating and taking the "survival tabs" seems to be going as well as planned, as I've dropped 9 more pounds in the past month.
I later learned after beginning this strategy that my idea happens to fit in with a fairly new concept called "calorie shifting." This method involves "tricking" your metabolism into non-adjustment by doing the opposite of what it expects you to do.
For instance, many people believe that if you starve yourself, you may quickly lose a few pounds, but then your body will adjust and burn less calories, demoralizing you into eating more again, thereby inducing a yo-yo pattern of up-and-down weight loss/gain.
So basically the idea is to not do one thing long enough to effect a change in your metabolic rate.
I'm always skeptical of these new dieting concepts, but what the hey, it seems to be working for me and you only need the high degree of self-discipline every other day.
I know my other post on this subject seemed to ignore the idea of metabolism rate changes and focused more on strictly calories, but we will at least give some consideration to new topics as this blog evolves and my beliefs revise.
I hear many runners train to "peak" their bodies into top form for the one race that is most important to them, some will train to peak at several points/races during the year.
This is exactly what I am trying to do, as my favorite race is coming up in September, and it is very important to me that I set a new personal record at this particular race.
